Family Fun Friday ~ Mardi Gras and Cupcakes ~ Albany NY Family Photographer

As a photographer and mother,  I am always looking for fun things to do that are good photographing opportunities:)

Here are my two recommendations for this weekend in the Capital Region:

#1. Go enjoy The Mardi Gras Festival in Saratoga on Saturday. It is supposed to be a beautiful day, perfect for a Festival.

I read about the festival on Albany Mommy.com . (I love to check in on Albany Mommy to get tips on fun things to do, sales and product reviews.)

Unfortunately we won’t be able to attend-I have a meeting, a photo session and then Trey has a T-ball game. I am hoping that this game will be better than yesterdays. Yesterday Trey was so wiped from a long day at school, many days of playing outside and going to bed later as it stays lighter outside, that he just melted down and couldn’t play. Poor kid. I must admit I spent a little too long being embarrassed that he was crying and screaming as I sat crouched next to him in the middle of center field trying to persuade him to put on his mitt, but I eventually got over it:)

#2. HAVE A CUPCAKE from Coccadotts Cake Shop!

Sunday is supposed to be RAINY!  Whether it is raining or not, you must head over to Coccadotts Cake Shop to have a cupcake. I just love photographing cupcakes and Trey loves eating them! I am ashamed to admit we headed over for the first time on Wednesday and then when I saw the announcement on The Coccadotts Facebook Fan Page that they were going to have Bubble Gum Cupcakes the very next day…we went back!

I let Trey pick a cupcake, knowing I would be buying at least one bubble gum cupcake to photograph. He had a hard time deciding between the lemon and chocolate/vanilla. Then out of no where he said emphatically-”I want Bubble gum”.

That’s my boy! We bought two cupcakes* , we went outside, I snapped a photograph, gave my permission for him to start eating it, buckled him in-careful to avoid getting in between him and the cupcake, closed the door….and the rest you can see in pictures…

Have a sweet weekend!

*I realized there was no way I was going to be able to get Trey to wait until we got home and I got a proper photograph, without him whining the whole way home, so I bought two. The second one ended up face down in the grass because apparently it is tough for a 5 year old who just ate a cupcake in 10 seconds flat just 10 minutes ago, to stand still holding a cupcake on a plate while his friends from the neighborhood go strolling by with a ball.

Such adorable images! But I must admit, they’re making me hungry! :)

How fun! This makes me want a cupcake.

Maybe I shouldn’t have stopped by your blog right before lunchtime! Your cupcake photos have me drooling on my keyboard!

What fabulous goodies! Love the shots – they are so playful and you can see how excited he is about those yummy treats!

So cute and ugh… I’m dying for a oreo cookie cupcake now! YUM!!!
