Family Spirit Session | Stathopoulos

Seeing old friends is so fun! I used to teach in the same school with Nancy and I remember her talking about her two darling daughters, and here they are all grown up! Sara and Lauren are unique and amazing girls, and so kind and lighthearted. Working with them made me really miss working with teenagers on a daily basis. Their energy is contagious. It definitely adds to it when my clients are as sweet and fun as their children! I had such a great time with this family.

Newborn | Chloe

One of the greatest honors is when a client returns to work with me again. A little over a year ago I photographed Chloe’s older brother Zachary. The love has grown and expanded in this beautiful family to now include two wee little ones. I enjoyed Chloe just as much as her handsome brother.

Beautiful capture….especially the smile :-)

Spirit Session | Laurie

I met Laurie years ago at Squam Art Workshops. When she contacted me about a Spirit Session, I lit up because I love her beautiful work and working with passionately creative souls brings me so much joy. Laurie lives in a beautiful part of the Berkshires and everything about her space indoors and out reflects her artistic eye. Not only does Laurie create beautiful art, and graphics, she has just launched her creative biz coaching services . What a helpful bunch of services she offers to help people put themselves out into the world. I wanted to be sure I honed in on her message and what she wanted her clients to feel when they looked at the images she shares on her website. I felt it was important to include her daughter in some of the photos, since being a mama is a big aspect of who Laurie is.

I felt especially honored to capture a few tender moments of them together.

Here are a few of my favorite images, and below, Laurie shares a bit about her experience of  her Spirit Session.

“I felt so relaxed and prepared because of our initial meeting. We had a chance to get to know each other, chat about life and business, and make plans for the shoot. To talk about what I wanted to get out of the process, what shots I needed for my website and how I wanted to feel. She was so encouraging and made me feel gorgeous and glowy. I really felt comfortable and at ease with her, in the initial meeting and during our shoot. It was so great to have the time to chat ahead of time and work together a bit, before the camera came out. It let my nerves and excitement ease a bit and allowed me to really be myself for the actual photo shoot. It was so much fun! I am so excited to have these new shots to energize my business and my marketing. I feel like I’ve just taken my business and my earning potential up a HUGE notch. Thank you Thea!”

thea and laurie……oh the beauty! these simply rock!
thanks for sharing.

Spirit Session | Elaine | Adoption Book

Elaine contacted me for a Spirit Session a month or so ago. She shared with me that she is in the process of adopting a child and was needing photos documenting her life for a book that is to be presented to birth mothers. Being very camera shy, Elaine felt Spirit Sessions may help her find a more confident and relaxed way of being in front of the camera. This of course was super important for the purpose of these photographs. I felt honored that Elaine was entrusting me with such an important task, that would ultimately play a large role in connecting her with her child.

Spirit Sessions are designed to create a space to process where you are in your life and what you are ready to welcome in next. I take in all that you share and mirror back for you the beauty and opportunity that lies before you through my perspective. In a way it is like having a gentle spiritual alignment. An affirmation that you can embrace yourself as perfect just as and where you are, while still welcoming change. Sometimes journeying to a new space, whether it is metaphorical or physical brings along so many components that we become a bit off kilter and afraid. In The Spirit Sessions I assist you in grounding and centering  into what you are creating .

Here are a few favorite pictures I captured of Elaine, and below she shares what the experience was like for her.

Trey got to spend some time with Elaine. She taught him how to blow bubble gum bubbles and I caught some of the fun.

Elaine…thank you for sharing your story with me, and for bringing laughter and joy to us. You are a lighthearted beautiful soul and a natural mama. I look forward to celebrating with you when you are finally connected with your child .

“Thea helped me in a much deeper way than I ever expected, and in a way that I desperately needed and didn’t even know it. I felt remarkably cared for. She is so present and quick to understand what is needed, and made the whole process which I would normally dread, really, really fun! I kept thinking that how incredibly smart and ingenious these spirit session are. They were even therapeutic in a wonderfully creative, joyful way. I look forward to doing more again sometime in the future!” ~ Elaine

Family Spirit Session | Fenlon

I know Susanna from many years ago when we both worked at Gold’s Gym in Latham. I haven’t seen her in about 12+ years, so when she emailed me to set up a family session I was very excited! Susannah has one of the most memorable smiles that never failed to make me happy and still does.

Susannah her family and I spent a gorgeous evening together in Saratoga a couple weeks ago and here are a few of my favorite images from our session:

These are all so beautiful!

Spirit Session | Christine

As I walked into the garden I saw her from a far and instantly knew she had much to share. Everything about her was colorful, warm and friendly. We walked and sat on a bench and talked and talked. Christine has so many talents and abilities, and it was wonderful hearing about the shifts that are happening in her life. As she spoke about embracing her creativity and living her life in full color her whole being lit up and she became even more radiant. Here are a few of my favorites from our session and below you will find Christine’s reflections on our time together.

I decided to do a spirit session to acknowledge a shift in my life. I turned 50, was newly empty nested and didn’t have a single photo of myself that I liked. There’s a reason for that. I always seem to be the one carrying the camera but in reality it’s because I spent my life hiding behind the camera not stepping into the light, my light. I am working on changing that and Thea’s spirit session was the perfect anecdote.

From the moment she walked up with a cup of tea, camera bag and step stool Thea instantly put me at ease. I felt a connection, like spending time with a wonderful friend. Thea got me; she saw me and was able to capture that in the most beautiful of ways. The things I loved the most were her smile from behind the camera and her encouragement to let me explore how to be seen. This was done with such kindness and gentleness.

When I opened the proofs all I could think was – there I am, where have you been hiding? I cried……….

Thank you Thea. You are the spirit whisperer – Christine
